The Village of Antioch has contracted with Peter Baker & Son for the 2021 Road Repair Program. The 2021 Road Program is set to begin on September 7, 2021 and continue through mid-November (subject to change due to weather). Residents living on any of the streets involved will be notified when work is set to begin on their street. Please note that access to homes and businesses will be maintained for residents as well as emergency vehicles throughout the duration of the project. Antioch First Fire Protection District, Antioch Township, and The Village of Antioch have partnered to bring a FREE emergency alert system to residents; Hyper-Reach. This telephone-based mass notification system will be used to inform Antioch residents about local emergencies, hazards and other threats. Hyper-Reach is fully operational and ready for Antioch residents to enroll. The new emergency system will provide rapid notification of hazardous and urgent situations using a mix of telephone calls, text and email messages, as well as TTY/TDD service for the hearing impaired. The system sends thousands of messages to geographically targeted households in seconds, and simultaneously delivers to a larger audience via social media.

Camp Crayon Preschool Teacher’s Assistant POSTED ON August 20, 2021 AND WILL REMAIN OPEN UNTIL FILLED Overview: The Village of Antioch is seeking qualified applicants for the seasonal position of Preschool Teacher Assistant for their Camp Crayon Program running September through May each year. Under the direct supervision of the Lead Teacher, and working alongside the Lead Teacher, the Teacher Assistant will maintain a safe, positive experience for the children of Camp Crayon Preschool. The Preschool Teacher Assistant will communicate effectively with both parents and children in a friendly manner, maintain a high level of confidentiality in an ethical and professional manner, setup and cleanup the classroom each day, assist with maintaining supplies and equipment in a safe and workable condition, observe the conduct of all children enrolled in the program, enforce the classroom rules, attend required staff meetings, conferences and workshops, and perform other duties and functions as assigned. Qualified applicants will have knowledge of early childhood curriculum and instruction methods, behavior management techniques and best practices in effective parent communication and conflict resolution. The Teacher Assistant will be skilled in exercising good judgment, interpersonal, verbal and written communication and able to follow written, verbal or diagrammatic instructions. Qualifications: Minimum High School Degree or GED equivalent and minimum three (3) years of related work experience required. Associate’s Degree with a background in Child Development or Early Childhood Education preferred. CPR and First Aid certification required. Salary & Benefits: The hourly rate is $11.50, and may require additional time beyond the specific class time. Antioch, IL-The Canadian National Railroad has informed the Lake County Division of Transportation it will be closing the railroad crossing on Main Street (Route 83) just north of North Avenue for repairs. The closure of the crossing will begin on Monday, August 16, 2021 and is scheduled to reopen on Monday, August 23, 2021.

Recreation and Event Specialist Overview: The Village of Antioch is a community of approximately 15,000 people and is located on the Illinois-Wisconsin border halfway between Milwaukee and Chicago at the northwest corner of Lake County. The Village of Antioch is seeking a qualified, and team-oriented applicant for the position of Recreation and Events Specialist. Under the supervision of the Director of Parks and Recreation, the Recreation and Events Specialist is responsible for organizing the logistics and management of major special events for the Village of Antioch. The Recreation and Events Specialist plans, organizes, attends, manages, and executes special events from conception to completion including establishing a budget for each event. The position is responsible for coordinating and communicating event logistics with all Village departments, community organizations, and volunteers to ensure a safe, successful execution of Village-sponsored special events. The Recreation and Events Specialist works with internal and external partners to promote and ensure entertaining and efficient Village events, secures sponsors and donors for events and programs, and coordinates calendars to ensure there are no conflicts with other major community events. General duties will include evaluation of the event process, proposal and implementation of new special events, and creation of event resumes. The position will attend and/or lead meetings as needed to discuss various events, coordinate staff and volunteers working on events, and obtain necessary contractor permits and certificates of insurance for each event. The position is also responsible for assisting with other Parks Department functions such as camps, programs, registration and customer service. Qualified applicants will develop and maintain a positive community image, provide exceptional guest services, and maintain safe working conditions. Knowledge of planning and implementing major community events and festivals, and supervising and coordinating workflow of event staff, vendors and contractors is needed to be successful in the position. The nature of this position requires a flexible schedule and the ability to work nights and weekends. Qualifications: Minimum three (3) years experience in Community Event Management required. Bachelor’s degree in business, communications, event or facility management or related field preferred. Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the essential job functions of this position. Salary & Benefits: The hourly range begins at $17.94 + DOQ. An excellent benefits package is available.
