PLANNING PROCESS UNDERWAY FOR RENOVATION OF ANTIOCH VILLAGE HALL Planning for the proposed renovation of the Village of Antioch’s ( antioch.il.gov ) Village Hall is moving forward. The 1,557-square foot building at 874 Main Street was heavily damaged last November when a driver crashed into the building’s front façade. In addition to serving as the center of the Village of Antioch’s municipal administration, Village Hall also provides professional space for the Antioch Chamber of Commerce whose area received the brunt of the impact. The building, constructed in 1969, once served as the Village’s police station. It also housed the Antioch Public Library in the 1940s. This community fixture on the corner of Main and Orchard Streets is also the site of the ongoing Annual Christmas Tree Lighting and Santa’s Frozen Village, presented each winter. Over the past several months, staff have been working diligently with a local architect on refinement of renovation plans for the building’s update, with best use and design in mind to meet the community’s needs. Renovations are anticipated to begin this summer. For more information and project updates, visit antioch.il.gov, or contact Community Development Director Michael Garrigan (847-395-1000, ext. 1311, mgarrigan@antioch.il.gov).

We would first like to thank you all for “hanging in there.” It has been a very long and difficult process in arriving at a decision regarding our summer at the Antioch Aqua Center. We have waited as long as we could. All surrounding communities have made the decision to cancel aquatic operations for the 2020 season. The Antioch Aquatic Center will remain closed. All purchased pool passes for the 2020 season will rollover into the 2021 season. The Aqua Center is inspected and issued operations permits annually by both the Lake County Health Department and the State of Illinois. The LCHD has been advised that during phase 3 of the Restore Illinois Plan Indoor/Outdoor pools are not permitted to open for normal operations. Therefore, without knowing exactly how long phase 3 will last – and if we will be permitted to operate in phase 4 – we cannot accurately predict a training or facility operations timeline. Thank you for your patience and understanding. Please continue to be well Antioch.
