On Tuesday morning Antioch Police officers arrested Anthony Viso (20), and two Antioch area teens for entering several unlocked vehicles and stealing property. Shortly before 12:30am, while an officer was patrolling the 400 block of Edgewood Dive, Viso was observed entering a vehicle in a residential driveway. As the officer approached, Viso began walking away, and was stopped along with the two teens. An investigation revealed that Viso and the teens had entered several vehicles throughout the area and stole contents. Viso was charged with three counts of Class 3 Felony Burglary, one count of Class A Misdemeanor Theft and one count of Class A Misdemeanor Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He is scheduled to appear before a Lake County Bond Court Judge later today. The two teens are being referred to the Juvenile Division of the Lake County State’s Attorney for charges. In Illinois each Class 3 Felony is punishable by up to five years imprisonment and up to $25,000 in fines, and each Class A Misdemeanor is punishable by up to one year in jail and up to $2,500 in fines. Any residents who believe they may be victims of last night’s vehicle burglaries, who have not yet reported the incident, are asked to call the police department. The Department currently has several pieces of property in evidence that were located during the investigation, and we would like to return the belongings to the rightful owners. The Antioch Police Department would like to take this opportunity to remind residents to remove valuables from their cars and to always lock their home and vehicle doors. Most victims of crimes such as this report having left their doors unlocked, which gives criminals easy access to their vehicles and often times their homes through a remote garage door opener.
