ANTIOCH, Ill. (November 22, 2021) —While the 2021 holiday shopping season is getting underway, Village of Antioch Mayor Scott Gartner is making to push to remind residents of the importance of shopping local. Gartner is encouraging holiday shoppers to support local businesses in Antioch throughout the holiday season, including Black Friday and Small Business Saturday. “Not only does shopping local help the community, but the consumers can also find more unique gifts than they would at big box stores and shopping malls,” said Mayor Gartner. “Now more than ever, local businesses need our support.” Antioch offers the ideal venue for Black Friday and Small Business Saturday. The historic and picturesque community is home to more than 100 eclectic shops and restaurants. “Avoid the crowded malls and shop where the business owner or employee is eager to help you find the perfect gift because they value your support,” explains Mayor Gartner. To assist after a full day of shopping, Downtown Antioch hosts over a dozen choices for breakfast, lunch, dinner, or an after-shopping drink. Food and drink options range from welcoming pubs, a diner, pizza, authentic Mexican cuisine, coffee shops, bakeries, to tempting chocolates and candies. For out-of-towners looking to tackle both Black Friday and Small Business Saturday, Downtown Antioch features a nearby hotel and bed and breakfast.
